  • Beginning our Homeschool Journey

This is POST 1 in my Homeschool Journey Series. Since before I was pregnant with my oldest, my husband and I knew we wanted to homeschool when ever we had kids. We liked the flexibility it would give us and the better ability to focus on each of our children’s learning styles. This June we finally started on the journey. Our oldest was ready for Kindergarten and I was so excited to begin. After researching tons of curriculum and knowing how much we really wanted to spend. I decided on Gather Round Homeschool. Their curriculum is great for families with multiple children, with the idea that you read the lesson…

  • Painting with Flowers

What you need: canvas or paper paint (I used acrylic because that’s what I had, however finger paint would also work well) flowers ( you could buy them or just pick some wildflowers ) plate to put paint on What to do: When choosing colors I decided to let my toddler pick one color and then I picked 3 or 4 shades of that color. We found it was easier for her little hands to hold…

  • Finger Painted Heart

This will give you an opportunity to talk about that color and it helps…

  • Watercolor Christmas Cards

Can I admit something? I am not that great when it comes to Christmas cards. I’m horrible at keeping ahold of people’s addresses and I truly don’t take pleasure in writing the same message 25-50 times in a row. However, although I might not send out a huge stack of cards, I do plan on sending some personal messages out to a few families that have been on my mind recently. Why not make the message a bit more personal by making the cards myself?… Enter craft –> I have fallen in love with the look of watercolors over the past few months and how easy they are to use.…

  • Christmas Gnome Handprint Craft

When I was pregnant with our 2nd we had our oldest make a flower painting (using his footprints) to hang in his new sister’s room. It was such a fun welcome picture for the new baby and a sweet memory of how small he was when I was pregnant with the 2nd. This time around I wanted to do the same thing however, since our 3rd will be born in December I thought a Christmas themed painting would be perfect. Who doesn’t love a Christmas Gnome?! What you need: Canvas (hobby lobby has these on sale quite a bit) Acrylic paint Paint brushes (for me to add details later) Paper…

  • Pumpkin Painting

What you need: Pumpkin(s) Acrylic paint Paint brushes, sponges, little hands/little feet 1. The first thing I did was wash the pumpkins. To do this I used my personal go to cleaning mixture of: hot water, Dawn, and white vinegar. Using a nylon scrubber I cleaned up the pumpkins and then rinsed them with warm water. 2. Find inspiration and paint the pumpkins. Tip: I found through some experimentation that by adding a base layer of paint to the pumpkins first, the designs I painted went on much smoother and without as much effort. Although this does add an extra step to the process it is worth it for sure.…
